Description
This policy setting turns off Windows Defender. If you enable this policy setting Windows Defender does not run and computers are not scanned for malware or other potentially unwanted software. If you disable or do not configure this policy setting by default Windows Defender runs and computers are scanned for malware and other potentially unwanted software.

Verify the policy value for Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Windows Defender Antivirus -> "Turn off Windows Defender Antivirus" is set to "Disabled" or “Not Configured”.

Procedure: Use the Windows Registry Editor to navigate to the following key:
HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender

Criteria: If the value "DisableAntiSpyware" is REG_DWORD = 0, this is not a finding.

If the value does not exist, this is not a finding.

If the value is 1, this is a finding.
