Description
Determining the correct time a particular application event occurred on a system is critical when conducting forensic analysis and investigating system events. Periodically synchronizing internal clocks with an authoritative time source is needed in order to correctly correlate the timing of events that occur across the enterprise. This validation procedure is performed on both the MDM Administration Console and the Samsung Knox for Android device. Check whether the appropriate setting is configured on the MDM Administration Console: 1. Ask the MDM administrator to display the "Disable Manual Date Time Changes" check box in the "Android Restrictions" rule. 2. Verify the check box is selected. On the Samsung Knox for Android device: 1. Open the device settings. 2. Select "Date and time". 3. Verify the "Automatic date and time" check box is selected. 4. Verify a user cannot unselect the "Automatic date and time" check box. If either the "Disable Manual Date Time Changes" check box is not selected on the MDM administration console; or the "Automatic date and time" check box is not selected on the device; or if it is possible to unselect this option on the device, this is a finding.
