Description
Encryption is only as good as the encryption modules utilized. Unapproved cryptographic module algorithms cannot be verified, and cannot be relied upon to provide confidentiality or integrity and DoD data may be compromised due to weak algorithms. If required, encryption modules must meet the requirements of applicable federal laws, Executive Orders, directives, policies, regulations, standards, and guidance.

Details

Check Text ( C-SRG-NET-000168-NDM-000126_chk )
Review the network device documentation to verify it is using NIST-validated FIPS 140-2 compliant cryptography for encrypted authentication mechanisms.

If NIST-validated FIPS 140-2 compliant cryptography is not being used for all encrypted authentication mechanisms, this is a finding.
Fix Text (F-SRG-NET-000168-NDM-000126_fix)
Configure all authentication mechanisms using encryption to use FIPS 140-2 validated algorithms.
