Description
Account management by a designated authority ensures access to the IDPS is being controlled in a secured manner by granting access to only authorized personnel with the appropriate and necessary privileges. Automatic notification of account changes to appropriate individuals will provide the necessary reconciliation that account management procedures are being followed. It is also vital that the termination of accounts is monitored to ensure that authorized accounts remain active and available for use when required. Additionally, it is recommended that the notification also alerts the individual whose account has been terminated, so the account can be reinstated if it had been terminated by mistake.

Navigate to the account management or audit notifications screen on the management console.
Verify the list of configured alerts includes a notice for account termination. Verify the notice is sent to the account owner.

If the system is not configured to notify the individual whose account has been terminated, this is a finding.

Configure the management console to send an alert to the account owner when accounts are terminated.
