PEFD-2 Fire Detection

Overview

A servicing fire department receives an automatic notification of any activation of the smoke detection or fire suppression system.

Threat
Personnel are at risk of injury and equipment at risk of damage in emergency situations if a servicing fire department is not automatically notified of smoke detection or fire suppression system.

Guidance
1. A servicing fire department shall receive an automatic notification of any activation of the smoke detection or fire suppression system. 2. Testing of the automatic notification of any activation of smoke detection by the servicing fire department shall be tested every time there is a universal time change, such as moving to Day-Light Savings Time. 3. Testing of the automatic notification of any activation of the fire suppression system by the servicing fire department shall be tested on an annual basis. 4. Documentation of all testing procedures shall be stored at the facility. 5. Documentation of all tests performed shall be logged and verified through internal audit verification in accordance with standard operating procedures.
