Threat
Personnel are at risk of injury and equipment at risk of damage in emergency situations if adequate lighting is not automatic and provided that covers all emergency exits and evacuation routes.

Guidance
1. An automatic emergency lighting system shall be installed that covers all emergency exits and evacuation routes. 2. The automatic emergency lighting system shall be tested on a yearly basis to ensure proper functionality. 3. The automatic emergency lighting system shall be in accordance with building fire and safety codes. 4. Documentation of all testing procedures shall be stored at the facility. 5. Documentation of all tests performed shall be logged and verified through internal audit verification in accordance with standard operating procedures.
